Position Overview

The Controls Technician role will support Trane UK Ltd customers within the commercial Healthcare, Process Manufacturing Facilities, Education Facilities, and Office Buildings. The primary responsibilities include commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up HVAC systems. This role offers an opportunity to apply your knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts, working with internal and external partners on new facility setups and retrofits. We are seeking 2 technicians from the North and Midlands regions of the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Customer and Technical:

  • Commissioning, programming, setting up graphics, communication links, end-to-end testing, troubleshooting, and servicing on assigned projects.
  • Document point-to-point verification, sequence of operations validation, and job close-out requirements.
  • Represent the company as the direct customer contact, responsible for servicing products and equipment, ensuring customer satisfaction by diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer locations.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of Trane products related to installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.
  • Utilize advanced software and technology, along with hand tools, to diagnose and repair units within systems, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate with Service desk, Sales, and Operations teams to share customer insights.
  • Generate reports on completed work orders for analysis and invoicing.
  • Foster strong customer relationships through excellent service.
  • Coordinate with local field service representatives, regional service leaders, senior technicians, and customers to provide updates and drive improvements.
  • Enforce safety standards rigorously and maintain security and accountability of company assets.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Proven experience as a service or field technician.
  • Strong customer service principles and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication and motivational skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software, apps, and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing industry is advantageous.
  • Positive mindset with good people skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability for standby, call-outs, travel, and overnight stays, including weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Valid UK driver’s license; right to work in the UK confirmed.
