Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Shift Electrical Engineer for Ellesmere Port to ensure the safe, reliable running of a fast-paced plant. The role covers day and night shifts, with opportunities to work on HV electrical systems and contribute to continuous improvement.

You will perform preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and coordinate with contractors on site. The successful candidate will hold an electrical qualification or apprenticeship, have strong fault-finding skills, and be capable of accurate

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification, apprenticeship, or time‑served experience.
• IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (advantageous but not essential).
• HV switching experience (advantageous but not essential).
• Experience with power supplies, lighting, meters, circuit boards and pumps.
• Ability to anticipate, diagnose and repair faults.
• Capable of completing essential paperwork accurately and promptly.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance and complete associated reports.
• Conduct fault‑finding, planned maintenance and reactive repairs for electrical plant.
• Support team members as directed by the Supervisor or Contract Manager.
• Ensure all tasks are completed within contractual time scales.
• Complete electrical installations and system upgrades on site.
• Supervise visiting sub‑contractors, ensuring safe and high‑quality work.
• Adopt a flexible approach to support other properties within the portfolio.
• Complete all documentation accurately and on time.
• Work safely and diligently, following company policies and procedures.
• Participate fully in training, appraisals and development activities.
• Undertake training in mechanical maintenance and assist the mechanical team when required.
