Job summary

Energy Jobline is seeking an Electrical Estimator for HV power projects in Blackburn. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical and civil packages, covering HV/MV/LV works, switchgear, cabling and BOQs.

The role involves tender submissions, risk assessment and close collaboration with design and procurement teams. Ideal candidates will have 4+ years in power/utility estimation, knowledge of 11kV/33kV systems and experience with ICP/DNO/IDNO environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years estimating experience within power/utilities.
• Experience estimating electrical infrastructure projects.
• Experience with 11kV and/or 33kV systems.
• Experience within ICP, DNO, IDNO, HV contractor or power infrastructure business.
• Good understanding of substations, grid connections and electrical distribution.
• Experience producing BOQs, quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates.
• Strong knowledge of utility tendering processes.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Good commercial awareness of labour, material and subcontractor costs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical and civil packages.
• Estimate HV, MV and LV electrical works.
• Price switchgear, transformers, cabling, earthing systems and equipment.
• Produce quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Produce detailed cost breakdowns and rate analyses.
• Prepare commercial and technical tender submissions.
• Define inclusions, exclusions and qualifications.
• Identify commercial and technical risks within tenders.
• Collaborate with design, procurement and project delivery teams.
• Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits when required.
• Respond to client clarifications and update estimates as projects develop.
• Support project teams with budgets and cost forecasting post award.
