Job summary

BakerHicks in Manchester is seeking a CAD Technician to join the HV Overhead Line team in the Power Sector. You will produce OHL wire clearance diagrams, sub-system drawings, material lists and route plans to support HV transmission and distribution projects.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience delivering wire clearance drawings, strong AutoCAD (2D/3D) skills, and the ability to work with engineers in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience delivering OHL wire clearance drawings for transmission and distribution projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D); experience with Bentley MicroStation, Civil 3D or similar tools is advantageous.
• HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering-related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Produce OHL Wire Clearance Diagrams, Insulator Set & Conductor Sub-system Drawings, Material Lists, and Route Plan Drawings.
• Develop detailed drawings, models, and technical documentation for HV transmission and distribution projects.
• Update and modify designs to client standards, specifications, and procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver coordinated design solutions.
• Ensure accuracy, quality, and CAD standard compliance while meeting deadlines.
• Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
