Job summary

Lucy Electric, a global leader in intelligent secondary power distribution solutions, seeks an HV Engineer to join our UK-based team. You will undertake installation, refurbishment, and maintenance of HV equipment, interpret drawings, perform electrical tests, and complete RAMS and reports.

The role is home based with site travel, offering flexible hours and potential overtime to support projects. Ideal candidates will hold a relevant electrical engineering apprenticeship, have strong H&S

Qualifications

• Certified in electricity at work and experience delivering services on site or from office.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety and its practical implications.
• Proficient with MS Office and basic IT tools.
• Electrical engineering technical qualification at apprenticeship level or higher.
• Licensed to drive in the UK and willing to travel and work weekends as needed.
• Valid authorisations: Private Networks, UKPN, SSEN, WPD.

Responsibilities

• Installation, refurbishment, and maintenance of HV equipment.
• Interpret electrical drawings and records accurately.
• Conduct electrical testing and fault finding.
• Perform mechanical modifications and repairs as required.
• Complete RAMS, job packs, test certificates and reports.
• Site installation, testing and commissioning of sub‑stations.
• Install and modify AC/DC wiring and earthing; ensure safety controls.
• liaise with team to manage priorities and ensure adherence to standards.
• Attend training and development opportunities.

Job Context:

You will work as part of a highly skilled Engineering division supporting all aspects of HV services to our clients and customers. As part of our team you will get to both support your peers in the delivery of HV engineering and also be required to lead projects when called on. Job Dimensions:

You will be working with a team of skilled HV Engineers, SAP’s and supporting staff across all aspects of the HV industry. The role is home based with travel to site works included within your working day. The core hours are 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 07:30 am to 12:00 Friday, depending on operational work and site requirements additional hours will be required. Opportunities to support additional overtime through evenings, weekends and travel abroad are also frequently available.

Key Accountabilities:

• Installation, refurbishment, maintenance of HV equipment
• Interpret electrical drawings and records.
• Carry out electrical testing and fault finding.
• Carry out mechanical modifications and repairs.
• Complete assessment and completion reports.
• Sub‑station installation, testing and commissioning.
• Installation and modification of AC/DC wiring and earthing.
• Assess safety and apply controls and safety measures required.
• Completing RAMS, job packs, test certificates and reports.
• Facilitate a safe working environment during high / low voltage working.
• Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Lucy Electric and its customers.
• Maintain authorisations in accordance with legislative our safety procedures and industry best practice.
• Liaise closely with team to understand and manage priorities.
• Attend training and continuous development opportunities as required.

Desirable:

• Cable jointing and end terminations.
• Switching and Linking LV systems.
• PASMA, IPAF, SMSTS,

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

Essential:

• Certified in electricity at work and experience of delivering efficient and effective services to customers whether on site or at a planning stage from an office environment.
• Good knowledge of H&S and its practical implications.
• Computer literate – skilled in MS office
• Technically qualified with a BTEC, C&G or equivalent apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering
• Full driver’s License, willingness to travel and work weekends as overtime or with a day off in the week.
• Valid authorisations – Private Networks, UKPN, SSEN, WPD

Desirable:

• Proven track record of experience in the Electrical and/or distribution Industry.
• Training - first aid, IPAF, PASMA, SMSTS
• 18th edition / 2391 inspection & testing
• Mentoring of trainees.
• Willingness to work weekends and call outs.
• Willing to travel abroad to support product and customers. (2/3 day trips)
