Job summary

AMB Recruitment Group is seeking an HV Electrical Instructor to train and mentor learners at our York training centre. You will deliver practical and classroom sessions on HV systems, ensuring safety and compliance throughout each course.

With solid HV knowledge and experience as an Authorised Person, you’ll explain complex concepts clearly. Training qualifications can be gained later, with full onboarding and ongoing development support provided.

Qualifications

• HV experience and Authorised Person status required or equivalent.
• Ability to explain complex topics clearly is essential.
• Experience with high voltage safety practices and switchgear is needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical and classroom training on electrical HV systems and cabling.
• Ensure all hands-on sessions are safe and compliant with procedures.
• Mentor trainees one-on-one through challenging parts of the course.
• Help tailor training content to client on-site needs.

Fancy stepping off the tools and passing on what you know instead?

If you've spent years working High Voltage systems and cables, holding Authorised or Senior Authorised Person status, you'll know the toll shift patterns and call-outs can take. This role is a genuine alternative: full-time, based at a single training centre in York, working with people who want to learn from someone who's actually done the job.

You don't need a teaching qualification to apply. If you've got the HV experience and can explain things clearly, that's what matters, training qualifications can come later, and support is there to help you get them.

What you'll be doing

• Running practical and classroom-based training on electrical systems, HV and cable work
• Keeping every hands-on session safe and compliant
• Working one-to-one with trainees through the harder parts of the course
• Helping shape training content around what clients actually need on site

What you need

• Full UK driving licence
• Solid working knowledge of safe systems of work for HV and switchgear
• Genuine experience as an HV Authorised Person
• Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Nice to have, not essential

• Background in Health Service or Defence Estates environments, issuing switching schedules and permits to work
• Assessor or teaching qualifications (TAQA, A1, PTLLS, AET)
• HNC in Electrical Engineering
