Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with HV connections design experience for a major DNO framework. Schemes range from 33kV to 132kV, with remote working supported and a preference for candidates based in Yorkshire.

You will design and cost HV connections, analyse network issues for robust, cost-effective solutions, determine the Point of Connection, undertake site visits and prepare concise business cases for authorisation within agreed timescales.

Qualifications

• HV connections or HV network design experience 33kV–132kV with a DNO/IDNO/ICP
• Knowledge of Electricity Network Regulations and NERS requirements
• Understanding of DNO/IDNO design standards and scheme approval processes
• Application of ENA Engineering Recommendations and industry standards
• Understanding Grid Code requirements related to protection settings
• HS&E requirements within the electricity industry
• Understanding of CDM Regulations
• Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
• Driving licence

Responsibilities

• Design and cost 33kV–132kV network projects (new connections, asset replacement, diversions)
• Analyse network issues and develop robust, cost-effective solutions
• Assess generation connections and raise Witness Testing jobs
• Prepare concise business cases and obtain authorisation within timescales
• Determine Points of Connection for new load and generation enquiries up to 132kV
• Undertake site visits and stakeholder meetings to support project delivery

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer with experience in high voltage (HV) connections design to join a major DNO framework. Schemes are from 33kV - 132kV and remote working is supported (with a preference for candidates to be based in Yorkshire).

Role:

• Design and cost 33kV - 132kV network projects, such as new connections, asset replacement and diversions.
• Analyse network issues and performance problems, developing technically robust, cost-effective solutions to improve network performance and reliability.
• Assess generation connections and raise jobs for Witness Testing in accordance with relevant technical and operational requirements.
• Prepare concise business cases in the required format and present them for authorisation within agreed timescales, supporting the timely delivery of the Production Plan.
• Determine the appropriate Point of Connection (POC) for new load and generation enquiries on HV networks up to 132kV.
• Undertake site visits, stakeholder meetings and other site-based activities as required to support project development and delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in HV connections or general HV network design between 33kV and 132kV with a DNO, IDNO or ICP
• Knowledge and application of Electricity Network Regulations and National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) requirements.
• Understanding of DNO and IDNO design standards, technical requirements, and scheme approval processes.
• Application of relevant ENA Engineering Recommendations and industry standards in network design.
• Understanding of Grid Code requirements relating to protection settings and network protection.
• Awareness and application of Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) requirements within the electricity industry.
• Understanding and application of CDM Regulations.
• Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
• Driving licence.
