Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with HV connections experience to design and cost 33kV-132kV network projects within a major DNO framework. You will analyse issues, develop cost-efficient solutions and assess generation connections, supporting witness testing and business-case preparation.

Role requires knowledge of ENA/NERs, Grid Code protections, and CDM/HS&E requirements, with field visits and stakeholder engagement to drive delivery.

Qualifications

  • HV connections or HV network design 33kV-132kV with a DNO/IDNO/ICP.
  • Knowledge of Electricity Network Regulations and NERS requirements.
  • Understanding of DNO/IDNO design standards and scheme approvals.
  • Application of ENA Engineering Recommendations and industry standards.
  • Understanding Grid Code protection settings and network protection.
  • Awareness of Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) requirements.
  • Understanding and application of CDM Regulations.
  • Driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Design and cost 33kV - 132kV network projects, such as new connections, asset replacement and diversions.
  • Analyse network issues and performance problems, developing technically robust, cost-effective solutions to improve network performance and reliability.
  • Assess generation connections and raise jobs for Witness Testing in accordance with relevant technical and operational requirements.
  • Prepare concise business cases in the required format and present them for authorisation within agreed timescales, supporting the timely delivery of the Production Plan.
  • Determine the appropriate Point of Connection (POC) for new load and generation enquiries on HV networks up to 132kV.
  • Undertake site visits, stakeholder meetings and other site-based activities as required to support project development and delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer with experience in high voltage (HV) connections design to join a major DNO framework. Schemes are from 33kV - 132kV and remote working is supported (with a preference for candidates to be based in Yorkshire).

Role:
  • Design and cost 33kV - 132kV network projects, such as new connections, asset replacement and diversions.
  • Analyse network issues and performance problems, developing technically robust, cost-effective solutions to improve network performance and reliability.
  • Assess generation connections and raise jobs for Witness Testing in accordance with relevant technical and operational requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Previous experience in HV connections or general HV network design between 33kV and 132kV with a DNO, IDNO or ICP
  • Knowledge and application of Electricity Network Regulations and National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) requirements.
  • Understanding of DNO and IDNO design standards, technical requirements, and scheme approval processes.
  • Application of relevant ENA Engineering Recommendations and industry standards in network design.
  • Understanding of Grid Code requirements relating to protection settings and network protection.
  • Awareness and application of Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) requirements within the electricity industry.
  • Understanding and application of CDM Regulations.
  • Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Driving licence.
