Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with HV connections experience to contribute to a major DNO framework in the UK, covering 33kV to 132kV schemes. Remote working is supported, with a preference for candidates based in Yorkshire.

The role involves designing and costing HV projects, analysing performance issues, determining the Point of Connection, and engaging in site visits and stakeholder meetings to support delivery.

Qualifications

• HV network design experience 33kV-132kV with DNO/IDNO/ICP.
• Knowledge of Electricity Network Regulations and NERS.
• Understanding DNO/IDNO design standards and approval processes.
• Experience applying ENA engineering recommendations and industry standards.
• Understanding Grid Code protection settings and requirements.
• Awareness of HS&E requirements in electricity.
• Familiarity with CDM Regulations.
• Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
• Driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Design and cost 33kV-132kV network projects, such as new connections, asset replacement and diversions.
• Analyse network issues and performance problems, developing robust, cost-effective solutions.
• Assess generation connections and raise jobs for Witness Testing in accordance with requirements.
• Prepare concise business cases in the required format and present them for authorisation within agreed timescales.
• Determine the appropriate Point of Connection (POC) for new load and generation enquiries on HV networks up to 132kV.
• Undertake site visits, stakeholder meetings and other site-based activities as required to support project development and delivery.

• Assess generation connections and raise jobs for Witness Testing in accordance with relevant technical and operational requirements.
• Prepare concise business cases in the required format and present them for authorisation within agreed timescales, supporting the timely delivery of the Production Plan.
• Determine the appropriate Point of Connection (POC) for new load and generation enquiries on HV networks up to 132kV.
• Undertake site visits, stakeholder meetings and other site-based activities as required to support project development and delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in HV connections or general HV network design between 33kV and 132kV with a DNO, IDNO or ICP
• Knowledge and application of Electricity Network Regulations and National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) requirements.
• Understanding of DNO and IDNO design standards, technical requirements, and scheme approval processes.
• Application of relevant ENA Engineering Recommendations and industry standards in network design.
• Understanding of Grid Code requirements relating to protection settings and network protection.
• Awareness and application of Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) requirements within the electricity industry.
• Understanding and application of CDM Regulations.
• Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
• Driving licence.
