Job summary

Climate17 is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design of HV infrastructure up to 33 kV, including substations and cable networks across UK projects.

You will produce detailed drawings and tender submissions, coordinate with DNOs, clients and consultants, and ensure designs comply with UK standards while supporting site visits and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3+ years' UK experience designing HV electrical infrastructure, ideally 33+kV networks.
• Experience in substation design, HV cable systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Good understanding of protection and control systems, earthing arrangements and HV electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical engineering standards and UK network connection requirements.
• Experience with DNOs, IDNOs or other electricity infrastructure stakeholders.
• Technical problem solving; able to manage multiple engineering deliverables.
• Experience combining electrical design engineering with tendering, estimating or technical bid preparation.
• Experience with renewable energy grid connections and/or substations.
• Familiarity with protection studies, earthing assessments, specialist design software.

• Coordinate electrical designs with civil and structural engineering teams to ensure effective project integration.
• Prepare comprehensive design documentation and construction packages for project delivery teams.
• Provide technical input into equipment selection and procurement activities
• Ensure engineering solutions comply with relevant UK electrical standards, industry regulations and health and safety requirements.

• Previous experience combining electrical design engineering with tendering, estimating or technical bid preparation.
• Experience with renewable energy grid connections and/or substations.
• Familiarity with protection studies, earthing assessments, specialist design software.
