Job summary

Clancy is seeking a Contractor Competency Authorising Officer (CCAO) to join our Energy team in a permanent role. You will ensure contractor competence for SSEN works from 11kV to 132kV and operate independently from programme pressures to ensure fair decisions.

Key duties include assessing candidates, conducting structured assessments, and maintaining competency matrices while collaborating with SSEN and Delivery Managers.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in UK electricity distribution networks.
• Strong knowledge of Distribution Safety Rules and Permit to Work.
• Experience in roles such as SAP, AO, Electrical Safety Manager or Commissioning Lead.
• UnderstandingHV/EHV operational protocols and related practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess individuals against defined competency criteria and evidence.
• Conduct structured assessments using interviews and scenario questions.
• Verify training records, authorisations, logbooks and experience records.
• Produce and sign a Contractor Competence Assurance Statement.
• Maintain contractor competency matrices and role profiles.
• Collaborate with SSEN AO, Operational Safety teams and Project Managers.
