Humanities Teacher
Location: Sheffield (S9)
Salary: £155 - £220 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent Option

Are you a dedicated Humanities Teacher passionate about inspiring young minds? Do you have a flair for bringing subjects like History, Geography, or RE to life in the classroom?

GSL Education are looking to appoint a full-time Humanities Teacher for a thriving secondary school in Sheffield. This exciting opportunity begins in September 2025, with the potential to become a permanent post for the right candidate.

About the role:

In this role, you will play a key role in helping students understand the human experience past and present. You will deliver creative and thought-provoking lessons in one or more Humanities subjects, typically including History, Geography, RE, or Citizenship. Your teaching will help students explore the world around them, build empathy, and understand the complexity of global issues and events.

As a Humanities Teacher, your responsibilities will be:

  • Teach Humanities subjects (History, Geography, or RE) across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • Deliver creative, well-structured, and engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Differentiate learning to support all abilities and ensure academic progression
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress using a range of assessment tools
  • Support students in preparing for GCSEs through revision and exam techniques
  • Create a classroom environment that promotes inquiry, discussion, and a love of learning
  • Uphold high expectations of behaviour, attendance, and achievement
  • Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and whole-school initiatives
  • Take part in staff meetings, CPD opportunities, and parents' evenings
  • Promote values such as diversity, inclusion, and global citizenship through teaching

What we need from a Teacher of Humanities:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A degree in a Humanities discipline (e.g. History, Geography, Religious Studies)
  • Proven experience teaching Humanities in UK secondary schools
  • Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to supporting students' academic and personal development
  • Ability to inspire, challenge, and motivate young learners
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one
