Job summary

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support service directors and senior managers with strategic and operational people management. The role includes advising on employee relations, TUPE and major changes, with line management of HR Advisors.

The successful candidate will work across the Trust in a hybrid model, delivering data-driven HR solutions and policy delivery while promoting best practice and a Just Culture approach.

  • Educated to master's level or equivalent experience.
  • CIPD Qualified to Level 7 or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Hybrid working.Based in either Fulbourn, Huntingdon or Peterborough.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to join our Team, in the role of HR Business Partner. The role will be working to support the delivery of a high quality strategic and operational people management service.

The post holder will work with the Trusts directorates, in an HR Business Partnering model, working with managers and senior leaders across the Trust to support them in achieving the Trusts strategic ambitions. Also providing practical advice on all aspects of HR work, including employee relations issues, organisational change, TUPE etc.

The post holder will also have line management responsibility for a Human Resources Advisor(s).

The role is varied, and no two days are the same, representing the HR Operational Team at regular business and performance meetings including the interpretation of data and trends as required.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, coaching and negotiating skills and the ability to work as an autonomous practitioner are essential to working in the role. The team work on a hybrid basis and we are happy to consider options for flexible working to support your work life balance.

Workforce strategies and plans:To work in partnership with managers and the HR Team to establish the HR strategies and plans necessary to support the successful delivery of customer-focused HR services, achievement of business targets and cost improvement initiatives.

Workforce performance:To procure and analyse workforce metrics and trends as a means of contributing to and enhancing workforce productivity. To work with Service Directors and Senior Managers to develop plans and strategies to ensure that the workforce meets performance targets.

To provide HR advice:in connection with business tenders, workforce aspects of service transfer, or new service implementation. Ensuring a customer service focus is provided with all aspects of the HR Service and Delivery.

HR practice: To be an advocate for HR management best practice through the fair, efficient and pragmatic application of best practice techniques and demonstrating a Just Culture approach; advising managers on employment legislation, the interpretation of Agenda for Change and local terms & conditions of employment and the organisation’s own policies and procedures. This will include informal coaching and the development of and presenting of courses on HR topics.

Person specification
Education and Qualification
  • Educated to master's level or equivalent experience.
  • CIPD Qualified to Level 7 of equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Experience
  • Experience of building effective partnership working with employee representatives and trade unions.
  • Thorough understanding and application of Employment Law and Equality legislation.
  • Experience of formulation and implementation of employment policies and processes.
  • Experience of advising Senior Managers and Line Managers on complex change processes including restructuring, redundancy and TUPE transfers.
  • Experience in applying a business partner approach – working with Directorate Leadership team and Senior Managers to develop services and applying HR expertise to provide solutions to complex problems.
  • Sound understanding of HR best practice and employment law.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to assimilate, analyse, interpret and present complex data and information clearly and concisely using a range of IT tools and software.
  • Ability to develop, review and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret legislation, national terms and conditions of employment and other guidance and provide pragmatic risk appropriate solutions.
