Job summary

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Main area Mental Health Practitioner (Band 5) for Fulbourn Hospital, Cambridge. This full-time post (37.5 hours) requires flexibility to cover a service from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday, with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

You will join the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, with preceptorship and regular supervision to support development in your role.

Qualifications

• Registered mental health nurse, OT or social worker with mental health experience.
• Relevant pre-registration experience in mental health environments.
• Strong communication, organisational and timekeeping skills.
• Lived experience of mental health welcomed.

An opportunity has arisen, for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to be part of our innovative and crucial service in Cambridge. You may be looking to move on from your first qualified post to a community role within the crisis resolution home treatment team.

We are looking for people who have a relevant NMC or HCPC registration and:

• Relevant pre-registration experience of working in mental health environments, however this is not essential.
• Previous experience and skills which can transfer into this role – good communication, organisational skills and timekeeping amongst others.
• We welcome applications from people with lived-experience of mental health challenges.
• People who are passionate about working with older people in the community experiencing mental health challenges.

Main duties of the job

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. • Support planned interventions and implementation of individual packages of care and treatment.
• Support clinical risk assessments, based on latest empirical evidence and compliant with local policies and procedures.
• Support risk management; practising safely and accordingly to individual service user needs.
• Support evidence based clinical interventions.
• Collaborate with senior colleagues in the development, planning and implementation of brief care and treatment interventions for individual patients.
• Ensure that individual episodes of care are delivered in a timely, effective, and integrated manner.
• Promote a recovery model that empowers patients, carers, and relatives to be at the forefront of decision making and ownership of their packages of care and treatment.

Person specification

Education/Qualifications

• Registered mental health nurse OR Qualified Occupational Therapist OR Social Worker with mental health experience
• Evidence of professional development
• Mentorship training or other recognised teaching qualification
• Post basic education/training/development in acute mental health

Experience

• Mental health care/treatment relevant to service.
• Experience of working as part of a team.
• Working with people presenting with complex mental health needs.
• Have a lived experience of mental health
