Job summary

MJ Quinn is seeking an experienced HSQE Manager to lead health, safety, quality and environmental standards across the Midlands region. The role is hybrid with regular travel to sites, working under the Head of Health and Safety to implement policies, drive improvements, and ensure compliance on CDM projects.

You will lead inspections, manage non-conformances, and advise on risk assessments, with NEBOSH qualifications and IOSH status preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have substantial health and safety experience within large CDM projects.
• Experience as HSQE Manager or senior HSQE Advisor aiming for progression.
• NEBOSH General Certificate required; Diploma desirable or in progress.
• Passion for Health, Safety, Environment & Quality.
• IOSH member or working toward chartered status.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards across projects.
• Lead non-conformance management and drive corrective actions.
• Support project teams with HSQE guidance and CDM compliance.
• Conduct site inspections and keep thorough HSQE records and reports.
• Communicate HSQE information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

HSQE Manager

At MJ Quinn, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HSQE Manager to join our growing business.

This role is a hybrid of office and field-based work, requiring regular travel across the Midlands and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving our Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards, with a particular focus on Service Delivery operations within the region

About the role

Led by the Head of Health and Safety, the department’s role is to help the business make the best choices for the safety, environment, health and quality of our operation, our team and our customers. We provide technical guidance, advice and assurance on managing HSQE across the business nationally. The role will be to assist and facilitate in the developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures across all construction projects. This role ensures compliance with legal requirements, industry standards, and company policies to create a safe working environment for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.

The Key Responsibilities of this Role include but are not limited to the following tasks

• To work safely and responsibly within MJ Quinn’s values and operational policies, procedures, and accepted behaviours to avoid harm to yourself, those around you and our neighbours and communities.
• Raising and following up on non-conformance reports, to ensure that any actions identified, pursued, and resolved.
• Work as part of a larger team to develop working practices and procedures.
• Support project management teams on CDM sites.
• Through confident and well-considered counsel, help business operational leaders make compliant HSQE decisions that meet customers’ needs.
• Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being implemented.
• Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employers’ industry.
• Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
• Lead and drive Integrated Management System (Safety, Environment and Quality) compliance, making recommendations for improvements as required, at our work sites and locations.
• The ability to effectively communicate to both internal and external stakeholders at all levels using proactive and reactive data in a clear and concise manner.

Requirements

• Previous health and safety experience within large CDM projects.
• Previous experience in a HSQE Manager role or extensive experience as a HSQE Advisor and are looking to progress.
• NEBOSH General Certificate
• NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety (Or working towards)
• Passionate about Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
• Member of IOSH and achieved or is working towards chartered status.
• Experience of identifying, conducting, communicating, and reviewing various risk assessment types.
• Preference given to candidates holding or willing to gain an ISO 9001/14001/45001 lead auditor qualification
• An effective communicator at all levels with client-facing experience.
