Job summary

DS Smith Launceston site is seeking an HSER Manager to lead the Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk function. You will embed a proactive safety and environmental culture, align with ISO 14001/45001/50001, and drive operational excellence. Occasional travel to Newport, Wales is required.

You will develop the annual HSER plan, act as Management Representative, liaise with regulators and insurers, and contribute to a wider central HSER network shaping policy and best practice across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering a Health & Safety culture across a large business
• Experience with CDM
• Excellent persuasion and communication across all levels
• Leadership and change management in challenging environments
• Understanding of ISO standards (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 / ISO 50001)
• Experience providing hands-on training
• Experience in Management Systems
• Excellent presentation skills
• Strong numerical and verbal skills
• Fully IT literate
• Willingness to travel to other sites

Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety and environmental culture across the site
• Coach and influence safe behaviours across all levels
• Develop and deliver the annual HSER improvement plan
• Deliver HSER training and develop organisational competence
• Monitor, analyse, and report HSER performance metrics
• Act as Management Representative for HSER systems
• Manage internal and external audit programmes and drive improvements
• Lead PUWER and COSHH risk assessments
• Serve as primary HSER contact for regulators and insurers
