H W Martin is seeking an experienced HSEQ Lead to manage all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality activities for the Sizewell C Infrastructure Contract.

Sizewell C is a large, planned nuclear power station being built on the Suffolk coast in the UK. The project is expected to generate 3.2 GW of clean electricity, enough for 6 million homes. This is a significant part of the UK's strategy for clean energy and energy security, with the goal of providing reliable, low-carbon power and supporting economic growth. SZC is a major project opportunity for the Martin Group of Companies.
We provide data-led, traffic management services within a temporary environment. Put simply, we guide vehicles around roadworks in the safest, most efficient way possible whilst permanent improvements are made to the country’s highways.
We collate data to find ways of making the temporary traffic management strategies we deploy as safe, swift and synchronised as possible.
We also provide an emergency traffic management intervention on behalf of our clients in the event of a situation that poses an immediate risk to health, life, property or the environment. For example, in the event of widespread flooding.
The HSEQ Lead will provide strategic leadership and operational management of all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) activities across the HW Martin Sizewell C Infrastructure Contract. Operating within a highly regulated nuclear construction environment, the role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, environmental stewardship and quality assurance are consistently achieved.
The HSEQ Lead will champion a proactive safety culture aligned with Sizewell C's Zero Harm philosophy, ensuring all employees, subcontractors and supply-chain partners work safely, sustainably and in accordance with legislative, contractual and company requirements.
The role will work closely with operational teams, clients, regulators and stakeholders to drive continual improvement, support operational excellence and ensure compliance with all relevant nuclear, highways, construction and environmental standards.
You will be an established HSEQ professional with significant leadership experience in construction, infrastructure or highways, ideally gained within a major, highly regulated project environment.
Experience on major infrastructure, nuclear, energy or other regulated projects would be advantageous, alongside experience of NEC contracts, multidisciplinary HSEQ teams and client assurance programmes.
Additional desirable qualifications include Lead Auditor, environmental or quality management qualifications, Chartered Environmentalist status, Temporary Works Awareness and Mental Health First Aider training.
The successful candidate will demonstrate visible leadership, professional integrity and personal accountability, with a strong Safety First mindset. You will be collaborative, resilient and solutions-focused, with the ability to make effective decisions, maintain attention to detail and continuously improve HSEQ performance across a complex major infrastructure project.
All individuals working on the Sizewell C Nuclear site are required to pass the vetting process which will include a DBS criminal record check and a drug & alcohol test at induction.
