Job summary

Sizewell C Limited is seeking a Quality Management Lead to drive quality across the Sizewell C project lifecycle, from tendering through to contract close-out. You will act as the primary quality contact, oversee QA/QC activities, drive supplier surveillance, and ensure Right First Time delivery across multiple sites and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering, science or related discipline.
  • Experience delivering QA/QC in large, complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and standards (ISO 9001, nuclear standards).
  • Experience in nuclear, energy, construction or regulated industries.
  • Experience in supplier assessments and quality in supply chains.
  • Experience in supplier surveillance, audits and process inspections.
  • Knowledge of welding, NDT/NDE and nuclear codes.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the quality lead and single point of contact for contracts and suppliers.
  • Develop and implement Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs).
  • Review Contractor Quality Assurance Plans (CQAPs).
  • Lead supplier quality surveillance, audits and inspections.

Quality Management Lead

Sizewell C is entering an exciting phase of growth as we mature into an independent organisation and continue building one of the UK’s largest and most important energy projects. We are now recruiting the below position:

Position: Quality Management Lead

Location: Flexible across Sizewell C office locations, with hybrid working (3 days per week in the office) - Leiston, Ipswich, London, Bristol, Manchester - regular travel between Sizewell C locations and other sites will be required

Contract : Permanent, full-time

Benefits include:

Role overview:

As a Quality Management Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring Sizewell C's quality requirements are delivered across the full project lifecycle, from tendering, design and procurement through manufacturing, construction, commissioning and contract close-out. Working within the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO) Quality Team, you will act as the primary quality contact for your portfolio of work, driving supply chain compliance, overseeing quality assurance and quality control activities, and ensuring products and services are delivered Right First Time (RFT). You will work closely with project teams, suppliers, contractors and inspection bodies to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved across one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the quality lead and single point of contact for assigned contracts and suppliers.
  • Develop and implement Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs).
  • Review and monitor Contractor Quality Assurance Plans (CQAPs).
  • Lead supplier quality surveillance, audits and inspections.
  • Ensure quality requirements are embedded within contract and procurement activities based on SZC manuals & Contractual requirements.
  • Manage quality-related issues, non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Review and acceptance of manufacturing, construction and quality records.
  • Coordinate inspection and test activities with suppliers and inspection agencies.
  • Monitor supplier performance through quality metrics and reporting and KPIs.
  • Provide quality expertise and guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Build effective working relationships across functions, suppliers and contractors.
  • Drive continuous improvement and share lessons learned to enhance project delivery.
About you:
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering, science or related discipline.
  • Experience delivering quality assurance and quality control activities within large, complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 19443.
  • Experience working within nuclear, energy, construction, manufacturing or another highly regulated industry.
  • Proven experience conducting supplier assessments and managing quality within supply chains.
  • Experience in conducting Electro-Mechanical product surveillance at Supplier premises, performing process audits, manage Third Party Surveillance management.
  • Management of Internal & external NCRs for supply chain with NCR categorisation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills manage supplier Quality from Tendering stage till Quality release of Parts/ Components to project site.
  • Experience analysing data, producing reports and driving improvements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Experience within the nuclear new build sector.
  • Knowledge of IAEA standards, nuclear site licence conditions and nuclear quality requirements.
  • IRCA Certified internal / lead Auditor qualification.
  • Chartered Quality Institute membership (or working towards).
  • Knowledge of welding, NDT/NDE and pressure/nuclear codes.
  • Experience engaging with regulators such as the ONR.
  • 3.1 material certificate, PMI. 5why, Fishbone, Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.
