Job summary

Network Plus is seeking an experienced HSEQ Lead to oversee health, safety, environment and quality on our utilities contracts in the UK. You will cascade HSEQ initiatives, manage reporting, audits and non-conformances, and work with the central HSEQ team and client on compliance and improvements.

The role requires NEBOSH Diploma, ISO and CDM knowledge, and a proven track record in high-risk environments. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent L6) required.
  • Lead Investigator certification.
  • Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001).
  • IEMA environmental qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, regulatory frameworks, client technical standards, and application of internal Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Experience conducting subcontractor due diligence and compliance assessments.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing HSEQ management systems.
  • Experience leading an internal audit and maintaining external accreditations.
  • Experience within construction or other high‑risk environments.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Have a passion for ensuring exceptional levels of health, safety, quality and environmental standards are delivered; put in place the processes and reports to continually monitor and maintain quality standards.
  • Ensure correct HSEQ reporting, recording, documentation management and safe systems of work; includes regular inspections, audits and quality checks at site and remotely.
  • Ensure completion of verification inspections and audits; follow up on closure of findings/non-conformances.
  • Undertake and support accident and incident investigations; promote good quality reporting and closure.
  • Complete a weekly and monthly report on HSEQ compliance, performance and achievements plus issues identified.
  • Proactively address and manage risks identified; communicate and drive improvements as well as maintain close liaison with the internal HSEQ team and external auditors.
  • Monitor accident and incident statistics for the contract; share reports at client meetings.
  • Support the contract on training and competency requirements, ensuring high standards of training compliance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the client.
  • Drive correct and safe behaviours on site and within the office.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance and Environmental Lead with accreditations and provide support where required (ISO45001, ISO9001, ISO14001, Achillies, ROSPA, etc.).
  • Support the contracts with quality control inspections to ensure correct standards are in place at all times; carry out briefings/training for engineers and supervisors as appropriate.

Job description

As a HSEQ Lead, you will be responsible for health, safety, environment and quality aspects of work delivered through our utilities contracts. This role links to a wider central HSEQ team, meaning you will communicate and cascade HSEQ initiatives, systems, processes, activities, regulatory and compliance requirements across the business. The role reports directly to the Head of HSEQ.

Compensation: £55,000 - £65,000 / year

Key Responsibilities

Experience and Qualifications
  • Health & Safety qualification e.g., NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent L6 qualification).
  • Lead Investigator certification.
  • Lead Auditor qualification (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • IEMA Certificate (or equivalent environmental qualification).
  • In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, regulatory frameworks, client technical standards, and application of internal Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Experience conducting subcontractor due diligence and compliance assessments.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing HSEQ management systems.
  • Experience managing incident investigations through to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Experience leading an internal audit and maintaining external accreditations.
  • Experience within construction or other high‑risk environments.
  • Utilities experience would be highly desirable.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
