Job summary

Alfa-Executive Solutions in London seeks an HSEQ Director to lead health, safety, environmental and quality strategies for major civil engineering projects. You will build a proactive safety culture, deliver strategic HSEQ oversight, and report to the board.

Based in or near London, you will manage a senior HSEQ team while liaising with clients, authorities, and partners to uphold top industry standards and compliance across multi-site operations.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent) and CMIOSH required.
• Proven track record leading HSEQ at senior level in civil engineering.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities; drive behavioural safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead HSEQ strategy across London civil engineering projects.
• Develop and manage a high-performing HSEQ team and safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation and maintain ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 accreditations.
• Liaise with client teams, authorities and JV partners to uphold standards.

Our client is a leading UK-based civil engineering contractor with a strong portfolio of major infrastructure projects.

Due to strategic operational expansion and continued growth across the London region, they would now like to appoint an HSEQ Director to lead their health, safety, environmental, and quality strategies.

The Role

• Will report directly to the Board and take full strategic and operational leadership for HSEQ performance across all civil engineering projects in London and the surrounding areas.
• Will manage and develop an experienced team of HSEQ professionals, embedding a proactive safety culture across the organisation.
• Will ensure full compliance with current UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, maintaining and driving ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 accreditations.
• Will liaise closely with client teams, local authorities, regulatory bodies, and joint venture partners to maintain industry-leading HSEQ standards.

The Person

• Will hold a NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent) as a mandatory requirement, alongside Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH).
• Will possess a proven track record of HSEQ leadership at a senior level within a main UK civil engineering contractor.
• Will demonstrate excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the confidence to drive behavioural safety initiatives across complex multi-site operations.
• Will be based in or within easy commuting distance of London.
