HSEQ Advisor - Urenco Capenhurst
Altrad is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive HSEQ Advisor to support our operations at Urenco Capenhurst, one of the UK's leading licensed nuclear facilities.
Key Deliverables
- Support the onboarding of new employees, including company and site inductions, security processes and Drug & Alcohol screening.
- Provide day-to-day HSEQ advice and support to site management, supervisors and operational teams.
- Monitor daily activities to ensure compliance with Altrad procedures, Urenco site rules, permit-to-work requirements and relevant legislation.
- Assist with the preparation, review and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Maintain a strong visible presence across the site through workplace inspections, safety conversations and behavioural observations.
- Promote positive safety behaviours by coaching and engaging with employees at all levels.
- Apply Human Performance principles by encouraging a questioning attitude, learning from operational experience and supporting the prevention of human error.
- Carry out planned audits, inspections and safety tours, ensuring corrective actions are completed within agreed timescales.
- Support investigations into incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Deliver toolbox talks, HSEQ briefings and site-specific training where required.
- Monitor compliance with customer procedures, environmental requirements and quality standards.
- Produce accurate HSEQ reports and maintain records in accordance with company and client requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Altrad and Urenco personnel to identify opportunities for continual improvement.
Key Requirements
- NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH, GradIOSH or higher), or actively working towards professional membership.
- Previous experience within a Health, Safety, Environment and Quality role in an industrial, engineering, construction, maintenance or similarly regulated environment.
- A sound understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation and its practical application.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees, supervisors and client representatives.
- Experience undertaking workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience working within the nuclear industry or another highly regulated environment.
- Experience supporting scaffolding, mechanical, insulation or industrial services operations.
- Knowledge of contractor management and CDM Regulations.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- NEBOSH Diploma or actively working towards a higher-level HSEQ qualification.
Security and Pre-Employment Requirements
Due to the nature of the work undertaken at Urenco Capenhurst, employment is subject to the successful completion of pre-employment screening and site approval processes.
The Successful Applicant Will Be Required To
- Successfully obtain and maintain Urenco site security clearance.
- Satisfy identity, employment history and right-to-work verification requirements.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Pass Drug and Alcohol screening.
- Demonstrate the integrity, professionalism and confidentiality expected when working within the UK nuclear industry.
