The McDermott group is seeking an HSEQ Advisor based in Perth, Scotland, to support high standards in health, safety, environmental protection, and quality management.

Overview of the Role

  • HSEQ Officer
  • Holidays: 30 days, with 1 additional day per year of service up to 5 days, plus a holiday buy-back scheme of 5 days.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Manage and liaise with HSEQ auditors to maintain company accreditations.
  • Create, monitor, and update procedures within the Quality Management System.
  • Coach and advise employees and management on HSEQ matters to ensure legal compliance.
  • Plan and conduct audits, documenting outcomes and implementing best practices.
  • Provide training on HSEQ topics to internal staff.
  • Ensure company processes meet their intended outputs.
  • Report on HSEQ performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Promote customer focus throughout the organization.
  • Maintain the integrity of the HSEQ management system.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Outline operational procedures considering hazards.
  • Perform regular site inspections to ensure policy adherence.
  • Ensure safe working practices and legislative compliance.
  • Develop health and safety strategies and policies.
  • Lead internal training sessions on QHSE topics.
  • Keep records of inspections, incidents, and accidents, and produce reports.
  • Stay updated on legislation and industry developments.
  • Attend relevant seminars and read professional journals.
  • Produce management reports, newsletters, and bulletins.
  • Ensure safe installation of equipment.
  • Manage hazardous substances disposal (e.g., asbestos, COSHH).
  • Advise on fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, machinery safeguarding, and occupational diseases.
  • Manage emergency procedures, signage, PPE, and COSHH controls.
  • Hold NEBOSH General or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrate passion and robust knowledge of HSEQ subjects.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Have a strong knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR, and DSE regulations.
  • Possess auditor training/experience.
  • Be a proactive implementer of processes and change.
  • Hold a full UK driving license and be willing to travel.
  • Have full rights to work in the UK, including IDLR or Settled Status.
