Job summary

DHL Supply Chain Derby is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Business Partner to guide and support a large semi-automated site across multi-contract operations. You will partner with operational leaders, customers and teams to embed a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all HSE legislation and DHL policies.

In this role you will provide expert advice, lead safety initiatives, deliver training, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement across warehouse and transport

Qualifications

• Strong experience in operational Health & Safety roles.
• Experience in warehouse and transport environments.
• Experience delivering against targets and standardised programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management with influencing skills.
• Experience with automated or semi-automated environments.
• Knowledge of Food Safety and/or Quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert HSE advice across the site to ensure compliance with legislation and DHL policies.
• Build relationships with site customers and act as a trusted safety advisor.
• Drive standardisation and adherence to HSMS and HSE policies.
• Support delivery of annual Safety, Health and Environmental objectives through performance management.
• Assist central HSE function in wider objectives.
• Coordinate and support site management with HSE initiatives and improvement programmes.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

As the Health & Safety Business Partner, you will provide expert advice, guidance and support across the site to ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and DHL policies.

• Providing professional HSE advice, guidance and support to operational teams across the site.
• Building strong relationships with site customers and acting as a trusted safety advisor.
• Driving standardisation and supporting continued adherence to the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) and other HSE policies.
• Supporting the delivery of annual Safety, Health and Environmental objectives through effective performance management.
• Assisting the central HSE function in delivering wider functional and business objectives.
• Coordinating and supporting site management teams with key HSE initiatives and improvement programmes.
• Promoting a proactive safety culture through engagement, coaching, training and visible leadership.
• Monitoring compliance, identifying risks and implementing practical solutions to drive continuous improvement.

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Strong experience working in an operational Health & Safety role.
• Previous Health & Safety responsibility within warehouse and transport environments.
• Experience delivering against targets and driving standardised programmes and initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and engage operational leaders, customers and colleagues.
• NEBOSH National General Certificate (essential).
• Confidence and experience presenting to groups and delivering training sessions.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
• Experience working in automated or semi-automated operational environments.
• Knowledge or experience of Food Safety and/or Quality standards.
• Experience supporting large-scale, multi-contract logistics operations.
