Job summary

Hudson Shribman is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead HSE across a high-hazard South East manufacturing site. The role requires strong knowledge of COMAH, process safety, and regulatory compliance, with leadership over the HSE team and coordination with site leadership.

You will drive improvements to reduce injuries, manage critical controls, and lead training and emergency response activities as required. Occasional site travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Health & Safety leadership in chemical/high-hazard manufacturing.
• Upper Tier COMAH site experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of Permit to Work, COSHH, Risk Assessment, CDM, and MOC.
• Solid understanding of process safety.
• Experience leading investigations into accidents and incidents.
• Emergency response and Incidents Controller experience.
• Developing and delivering Health & Safety training.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site's Health & Safety management systems.
• Ensure compliance with Upper Tier COMAH Regulations and UK legislation.
• Provide expert H&S advice to site leadership.
• Identify and implement improvements to reduce injuries and risks.
• Lead and develop the H&S team.
• Oversee induction, contractor management, and drills.
• Audit critical controls like Permit to Work.
• Lead accident/incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Monitor health & safety metrics and report findings.
• Support emergency response activities and act as Incident Controller when required.
• Liaise with external regulators and authorities as needed.
• Support Group SHE audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
