Job summary

SSA Recruitment is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support a major civil engineering project in the UK. Reporting to the Regional Health & Safety Manager, you will conduct inspections, audits, and promote safe practices across site.

The role will involve coordinating with site teams, risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work; you will also support KPI reporting, investigations of incidents, and client audits. NEBOSH certification is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as HSEQ Advisor on civil/infrastructure projects.
• Experience with Tier 1 or principal contractors desirable.
• Knowledge of earthworks, highways, rail or large infrastructure projects advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety tours.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, client requirements and UK health & safety law.
• Support site teams with risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks, site briefings and health & safety inductions.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and maintain high safety standards.
• Assist with development and implementation of project HSEQ initiatives.
• Produce reports and maintain accurate health & safety records.
• Build relationships with operational teams to promote behavioural safety culture.
• Support external audits and client inspections as required.
