Job summary

AMB Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across multiple sites in the Midlands and West of England. The role involves travel to sites, time at a Stafford hub, and flexible home working, ideally from Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire.

You will support the HSEQ Manager to ensure compliance with legislation and drive best-in-class HSEQ standards while fostering a proactive safety mindset throughout the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety standards and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex information.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and present findings clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures.
  • Develop, review and enforce safe systems of work.
  • Carry out site inspections and audits.
  • Deliver in-house health and safety training.
  • Maintain records, reports and improvement plans.
  • Manage incident reporting and lead investigations.

HSE Advisor - Midlands & West of England

Location: Midlands (Stafford hub, home working & site-based)

Reporting to: HSEQ Manager

AMB Recruitment Group is currently recruiting for an experienced HSE Advisor to join a growing organisation operating across the Midlands and West of England. This is a varied role involving regular travel to sites, time at a Stafford-based hub, and flexible home working. The position would ideally suit candidates based in Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire.

The Role

As HSE Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in promoting a positive health and safety culture across multiple sites. Working closely with the HSEQ Manager, you’ll ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental legislation while supporting the delivery of best-in-class HSEQ standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures
  • Develop, review, and enforce safe systems of work
  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits
  • Deliver in-house health and safety training
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and improvement plans
  • Manage incident reporting and lead investigations
  • Stay up to date with relevant HSE legislation and best practice
  • Provide specialist advice on areas such as fire safety and hazardous substances
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of health and safety standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyse complex information and present it clearly
  • Strong IT skills with high attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • IOSH qualification or equivalent
Desirable
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 27001:2013
  • Background in construction or industrial environments
  • Understanding of environmental and sustainability practices
