Job summary

Andrews Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced HSE Advisor to join a large 24/7 heavy industrial site in Essex. You will support management with health, safety and environmental performance across a busy operation, drive safety culture, and contribute to risk assessments and incident investigations.

The role is site-based, hands-on and requires NEBOSH Diploma or CMIOSH progress, strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, and proven contractor management experience.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in a site-based or multi-site HSE role.
• Experience within manufacturing, heavy industry, construction materials or a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation.
• Experience managing contractors and permit-to-work systems.
• Experience supporting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of occupational health surveillance and occupational hygiene.
• Experience with environmental compliance and permits.
• Understanding of process safety and machinery safety.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of the site HSE strategy and safety improvement plan.
• Provide practical HSE advice and challenge to operational management.
• Carry out site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Develop and monitor corrective and preventative actions.
• Lead site HSE meetings and risk working groups.
• Support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems and external audits.
• Manage contractor safety, inductions and permit-to-work arrangements.
• Support occupational health surveillance programmes.
• Coordinate monitoring for dust, noise, vibration and other occupational hazards.
• Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate site drills.
• Support behavioural safety and safety culture initiatives.
• Coach supervisors and operational leaders on HSE performance.
• Manage environmental compliance including waste, dust, water and noise.
• Support safe systems around LOTO, confined spaces, work at height and mobile plant.
• Produce HSE reports, performance data and improvement actions.

We are recruiting for an experienced HSE Advisor to join a large 24/7 manufacturing operation in Essex.

This is a hands‑on, site‑based role supporting operational management with health, safety and environmental performance across a busy heavy industrial environment.

The successful HSE Advisor will help drive site safety strategy, improve standards, support incident investigations, manage occupational health and environmental risks, and work closely with operational teams to build a strong safety culture.

The Role

As HSE Advisor, you will:

What We’re Looking For

The successful HSE Advisor will ideally have:

• 3–5 years’ experience in a site-based or multi-site HSE role
• Experience within manufacturing, heavy industry, construction materials or a similar environment
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation
• Good understanding of COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, Working at Height and CDM
• Experience managing contractors and permit-to-work systems
• Experience supporting incident investigation and root cause analysis
• Knowledge of occupational health surveillance and occupational hygiene
• Experience with environmental compliance and permits
• Understanding of process safety and machinery safety
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence working with both shop floor teams and senior management

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
• CMIOSH or actively working towards Chartered membership
