Job summary

Kirstall Limited is seeking an HSE Advisor for a full-time night shift at Fawley, supporting a major turnaround from mid-September to end-October. The role focuses on promoting a strong health, safety and environmental culture across mechanical installation activities.

You will conduct site inspections, risk assessments, safety audits, and deliver toolbox talks, inductions and training to supervise and contractor teams. Robust HSE documentation and incident investigations are essential.

Qualifications

  • HSE skills with practical experience in industrial/contractor settings.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent HSE qualifications.
  • Auditing experience including HSE inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Effective communication, training and stakeholder engagement to influence safe behaviors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigations and improvements.
  • Proficiency in report writing and documentation; Oil & Gas or Petro-Chemical experience beneficial.

Job description

This is a full-time night shift contract position based at Fawley, commencing mid-September and continuing through to the end of October, supporting a major turnaround project.

The HSE Advisor will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all mechanical installation activities during the turnaround. Key duties include conducting site inspections, monitoring work activities, undertaking risk assessments, and carrying out safety audits to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, client standards, and site procedures.

The role will support incident reporting and investigation activities, ensuring findings are communicated effectively and appropriate corrective actions are implemented. The HSE Advisor will deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions, providing practical guidance and support to supervisors, contractors, and project management teams on safe systems of work.

Working closely with project stakeholders, the successful candidate will proactively identify hazards, assess risks, and help implement effective control measures to prevent incidents and maintain a safe working environment throughout the turnaround period. Additional responsibilities include monitoring permit-to-work compliance, maintaining accurate HSE records, and contributing to the achievement of project safety objectives during this fast-paced shutdown campaign

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety, Occupational Health, and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) skills, with practical experience in industrial or construction settings.
  • Candidates must possess NEBOSH or equivalent HSE qualifications, along with knowledge of relevant UK regulations and industry best practices.
  • Candidates should possess experience in Auditing, including conducting HSE inspections, internal audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Candidates should possess effective communication, training and stakeholder engagement skills to influence safe behaviors across diverse teams.
  • Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement improvements.
  • Candidates should possess proficiency in report writing, documentation and use of standard office software; prior experience in Oil & Gas or Petro-Chemical environments is highly beneficial.
