Job summary

Galliford Try is recruiting an HS&E Advisor in Inverness-shire to support the Environment Division’s health, safety and environmental strategy across projects. You’ll work with the Head of HS&E to ensure top safety and environmental performance, guiding operational teams through planning, design and construction lifecycles.

You’ll carry out site inspections, audits and incidents investigations, promote a proactive HS&E culture and collaborate with clients, supply chains and regulators to drive

Qualifications

• Experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental advisory role within construction or regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of HS&E legislation, management systems and risk management.
• Experience supporting projects through design and construction lifecycles.
• Site inspections, audits and incident investigations experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Analytical and proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Experience delivering HS&E training or awareness sessions.
• Competent IT skills with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel UK-wide.

Responsibilities

• Champion a positive HS&E culture and promote safe behaviours.
• Support implementation and improvement of HS&E strategy and systems.
• Provide practical HS&E guidance to teams across projects.
• Review high-risk method statements and risk assessments.
• Conduct site inspections and HS&E audits; drive corrective actions.
• Monitor performance via KPI reporting and trend analysis.
• Investigate incidents and root causes; implement corrective actions.
• Build relationships with clients, regulators and partners on HS&E matters.
• Support onboarding and management of supply chain partners.
• Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions and awareness programmes.
• Contribute to HS&E systems, reporting and digital initiatives.
