City of Wolverhampton Council,

HR/Payroll Officer

Full time 37 hrs per week, permanent

Grade 5 salary range £29,093 - £32,654

Full time Permanent

We are currently seeking to appoint a permanent HR/Payroll Officer. Applications are invited from experienced HR & Payroll Officers to join our team. Under the guidance of the HR & Payroll Support Manager, you will provide HR and Payroll support across the City of Wolverhampton Council and its partners. Responsibilities include payroll, pensions, HR support, policies and procedures, new starters, and leavers.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, responsible, and highly organized individual to join a dynamic and busy environment. The successful candidate will have GCSEs or equivalent (including English and Maths) or recent extensive HR/Payroll/Pensions experience. Experience in a school environment would be advantageous.

If you are positive, customer-centric, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple deadlines, we welcome your application. You should be able to:

  1. Interpret HR & Payroll information to make sound judgments and undertake relevant actions for end-to-end processing.
  2. Carry out accurate payroll-related calculations.
  3. Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  4. Manage a varied workload responsibly.
  5. Use initiative and escalate concerns proactively and timely.
  6. Interpret work and tasks to deliver effective and timely outcomes.
  7. Demonstrate a positive attitude and professional customer service.
  8. Possess strong IT and communication skills, with proficiency in HR and Payroll systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
