Job summary

AM Global is seeking an HR Manager in Stockton to lead and develop the HR team, drive workforce planning across offshore wind and energy sectors, and own recruitment for site-based roles. You will design and embed HR policies, ensuring legal compliance and operational pace.

The role requires a strong people focus, experience in engineering/construction environments, and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels while navigating UK employment law and NAECI frameworks where relevant.

Qualifications

  • Background in engineering, construction or a related project-delivery environment.
  • Confident, vocal and assertive communication style.
  • Experience managing a team with accountability for delivery.
  • Sound working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Experience handling employee relations matters (discipline, grievance or performance).
  • Familiarity with NAECI framework is desirable.

  • Partner with project and site leadership to support workforce planning across project portfolio.
  • Design, implement and embed practical HR policies and procedures tailored to the client’s size and needs.
  • Own recruitment and resourcing for office and site-based roles with hiring managers.
  • Manage pay, terms and conditions for site-based engineering and construction staff, including relevant collective agreements.
  • Drive employee engagement, culture and retention initiatives for a hands-on, delivery-focused business.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law and collaborate with HSQE on people-related safety matters.
  • Report HR metrics, workforce risk and employee relations trends to senior leadership.

HR Manager - Stockton
Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and develop the HR team, delegating effectively and holding the team accountable for delivery
  • Act as a point of contact for employee relations, with the confidence and experience to handle disciplinary, grievance or performance-related matters fairly and professionally, should they arise
  • Partner with project and site leadership to support workforce planning across project portfolio (offshore wind, power, oil & gas, nuclear and other sectors)
  • Design, implement and embed practical, proportionate HR policies and procedures appropriate to a business of the clients size, balancing legal compliance with operational pace
  • Own recruitment and resourcing for office and site-based roles, working closely with hiring managers across the business
  • Manage pay, terms and conditions matters for site-based engineering construction employees, including familiarity with national and sector agreements such as NAECI (National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry) where relevant
  • Drive employee engagement, culture and retention initiatives suited to a hands-on, delivery-focused engineering and construction business
  • Ensure compliance with employment law and work closely with the HSQE function on people-related health & safety matters
  • Report on HR metrics, workforce risk and employee relations trends to the senior leadership team
Essential Requirements
  • Background in engineering, construction or a related project-delivery environment, with a genuine understanding of site culture, project pressures and the workforce employs
  • Confident, vocal and assertive communication style, comfortable challenging senior stakeholders and holding ground under pressure
  • Confidence and experience to handle sensitive employee relations matters — disciplinary, grievance or performance-related — calmly and professionally when required
  • Experience managing a team, delegating effectively and holding people accountable for delivery
  • A strong people person, able to build trust and rapport across all levels of the business, from site operatives to senior leadership
  • Track record of implementing practical, proportionate HR policy and procedure for a business of a similar size to the client.
  • Sound working knowledge of UK employment law
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience working within the NAECI (National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry) framework
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Experience in a business with a significant site-based or mobile workforce
