We are seeking a skilled HR professional to support the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) inspection programme. In this role, you will provide specialist advice and insight - helping ensure our judgements reflect the most current, credible professional standards and practice.Please note this is an ad-hoc opportunity.

In the last year as aHR Investigator (Bank)in thePeople Directorate, you might have:

Led a complex grievance investigation involving multiple stakeholders, ensuring a fair and timely resolution that aligned with CQC’s values and employment law.

Supported a whistleblowing case by gathering evidence, conducting sensitive interviews, and presenting findings that informed senior decision-making.

The role

You’ll be key in helping us deliver our work. In this role, you’ll:

Lead investigations: Manage end-to-end investigations into misconduct, grievances, whistleblowing, and other workplace concerns, ensuring fairness and compliance with policy and law.

Collaborate and advise: Work closely with colleagues across the People and Legal teams to ensure best practice and consistent application of employment policies.

Report and present findings: Produce clear, well-documented investigation reports and, where needed, present evidence at Employment Tribunals.

We’ll be looking for the following skills, knowledge and experience in your application form:

Experience leading complex employee relations investigations, including grievances, with a clear understanding of employment law and best practice.

Ability to manage sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism, building trust with colleagues at all levels.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, evidence-based reports and explain findings to a range of audiences.

Professional Practice Requirement

Please note that, as an HR Investigator (Bank) you are required to be substantively employed in active Professional Practice at a trust or provider, in a role aligned to the scope and specialisms of their work with CQC. For the HR Investigator (Bank) role, this means active professional practice in HR investigations or employee relations within a provider or trust setting. This role must involve direct casework or line management of such work. Professional Practice does not include supportive areas, such as teaching, training or an advisory position.

Compliance

To progress your application, you’ll need to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK. Without valid right to work you won’t be eligible for the role. We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Some roles may also be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
