Job Opportunity: Senior Application Fraud Investigator

Are you an experienced fraud investigator ready to take on a senior role in one of the UK’s largest local authorities? Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Application Fraud Investigator to join their team.

Role Overview: As a Senior Application Fraud Investigator, you will lead complex investigations into criminal offences, focusing on unlawful sub-letting of social housing, council tax and revenue fraud, and wider application fraud. The successful candidate will employ various investigative techniques including interviews, surveillance, intelligence gathering, and data analysis to recover assets and bring offenders to justice.

This role offers a salary of up to £ per hour and is primarily home-based with some travel to Birmingham City Centre.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage a caseload of criminal investigations
  2. Conduct interviews and gather evidence in line with legislation
  3. Prepare high-quality reports and prosecution files
  4. Liaise with internal teams and external agencies
  5. Support and mentor junior investigators
  6. Deputise for the Principal Investigator when required
Candidate Requirements:
  1. Proven experience in investigating fraud, ideally in social housing or revenue fraud
  2. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (PACE, CPIA, RIPA, etc.)
  3. Experience in preparing and presenting detailed prosecution files and investigation reports
  4. Excellent communication, IT, and case management skills
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
