Job summary

GM Performance Power Unit is seeking an HR intern for the summer to rotate through talent and recruitment, payroll, and general operations. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work with HR professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop a solid understanding of HR practices within a start-up environment.

You will assist with coordinating interviews, participate in career fairs and university recruiting activities, gain exposure to payroll systems and HRIS, support

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Communications, or related field.
• Interest in working in a start-up organization.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to handle multiple projects with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting and talent acquisition, including coordinating interviews.
• Participate in career fairs, intern programming, community outreach, and university recruiting activities.
• Gain exposure to payroll systems, HRIS platforms, timekeeping systems, and payroll reporting tools.
• Assist with payroll preparation and processing by reviewing employee information, time records, and payroll-related documentation.
• Review time and attendance records for accuracy and help identify missing or incorrect entries.
• Support the payroll team with payroll audits and reconciliations to help ensure accurate employee pay.
• Support the HR team with day-to-day HR programs, projects, and administrative activities.
• Support new hire onboarding and orientation activities to help create a positive employee experience.
• Maintain and update employee records, HR databases, and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
• Assist in creating HR communications, presentations, reports, and program materials.
