Job summary

Holistic AI Inc in London is seeking a pragmatic, hands-on HR Manager to support our 40+ international employees. This broad generalist role combines day-to-day HR delivery with building scalable people practices. You will partner with the co-founders and managers, provide practical HR advice, and operate with autonomy.

The role is offered part-time with regular on-site presence (3 days in the office). You must be eligible to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 6+ years HR generalist experience.
• Experience supporting a growing international team and scalable processes.
• Strong knowledge of the employee lifecycle and UK Employment Law.
• Experience maintaining HRIS and handling confidential data.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for employees and managers on HR matters.
• Coach managers on performance, probation, absence, conduct and employee relations.
• Own the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding and manage HR documentation.
• Support payroll, visa sponsorship and benefits administration as needed.
• Ensure compliance across international teams and maintain fit-for-purpose policies.

Job description

We have an opening for a pragmatic, hands-on HR Manager to support our growing international team of 40+ employees. This is a broad generalist role, combining day-to-day HR delivery with the opportunity to build and improve the people practices needed as the business scales. You will partner with the co-founders and managers, provide practical HR advice and ensure our people processes are consistent, effective and appropriate. This role will suit a self-starter and someone who is comfortable operating with autonomy. We want someone who can deliver what the business needs today while building the foundations it will need tomorrow.

As the role is offered on a part-time basis, there is flexibility to agree a working pattern that works for both you and the business. Regular office presence will be required and is an important part of the role. N.B. Only applicants that are fully eligible to work in the UK without restriction or need for sponsorship will be considered.

What you'll do

HR Advice & Employee Relations

• Act as the primary point of contact for employees and managers on all HR matters
• Coach and advise managers on performance, probation, absence, conduct and employee relations
• Manage sensitive employee matters with sound judgement, confidentiality and appropriate escalation

People Operations

• Own the employee lifecycle from onboarding through to offboarding
• Maintain contracts, employee records, policies and all HR documentation (we use BambooHR)
• Ensure HR data integrity and maintain effective, consistent onboarding and offboarding workflows
• Support on payroll, visa sponsorship and benefits administration
• Coordinate with IT on employee equipment and asset management

International HR & Compliance

• Support employees and contractors across multiple countries
• Identify any employment, compliance and people risks early
• Maintain practical, fit for purpose policies and processes as we grow

Talent & Organisation

• Support recruitment and hiring where required, working with hiring managers and sourcing support
• Support managers with onboarding, probation and ongoing development
• Build and maintain university partnerships and support the delivery of internship programmes

what you'll bring

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 6+ years broad HR generalist experience, ideally within a start-up, scale-up
• Confidence to operate autonomously
• Strong working knowledge of the employee lifecycle and employee relations
• Competent understanding of UK Employment Law
• Experience maintaining an HRIS and ensuring accurate people data (BambooHR/HiBob)
• Strong judgement and confidence in advising managers
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Prior experience as a Level 1 user for the UK Visas & Immigration SMS
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Able to handle confidential matters appropriately
