Job summary

Department for Transport is seeking an HR Data & Technology Services Manager (DTA Lab) to lead the HR data and technology function and ensure high-quality service delivery across locations in the UK. This role supports a hybrid working model and contributes to a data-led, AI-enabled HR roadmap.

You will oversee the service desk, maintain data accuracy, analyse performance data, build strong stakeholder relationships and produce clear reports for diverse audiences, while guiding continuous

The Data, Technology and AI Lab (DTA Lab) drives data and technology innovation across HR, delivering core services while rapidly prototyping, testing and deploying new solutions, including AI. We explore smarter ways to use HR technology to enhance the employee experience, improve processes and generate high‑quality data that supports confident, informed decision‑making.

As a fast‑paced, forward‑looking team, we improve HR data insights, champion consistent data use and shape a future‑focused technology roadmap with AI at its centre. Working in the Lab means being curious, adaptable and proactive - ready to learn, experiment and grow as technologies and priorities evolve.

HR Data & Technology Services Managers play a central role in the day‑to‑day operation and continuous improvement of HR data and technology services. Working in a live service environment, post‑holders ensure reliable, user‑focused service delivery while identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance resilience and improve user experience through data and technology.
