Job description

Are you someone who thrives on organisation and gets a genuine buzz from helping things run smoothly? As an HR Assistant, you'll play an essential part in keeping our HR service running smoothly, supporting the full colleague lifecycle and contributing to key HR processes across the school. From recruitment administration, safer recruitment checks and updating HR systems, organising interviews and managing the HR inbox, your work will play an important role in supporting colleagues throughout the school. You'll work closely with our HR Director, Senior HR Advisor, Senior HR & Payroll Assistant, and part‑time HR Assistant as part of a small close‑knit HR team. We’re fun, friendly, and genuinely committed to supporting each other, and we’re looking for someone who’ll bring the same positive energy. We work hard, we laugh a lot, and we always have each other’s backs. In the school holidays, we operate a flexible and mostly remote working pattern, with rota‑based time on site to suit the needs of the team. It’s a lovely balance and offers a great rhythm throughout the year. Further details about the role and person specification can be found in the candidate pack available in the 'documents' section of the advert.

You don’t need to have years of experience but we’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organised, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
  • Great with people and confident communicating with colleagues at all levels.
  • Discreet and professional; you’ll be working with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Meticulous and efficient with a real eye for detail.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
  • IT savvy, especially with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Positive, adaptable, and someone who likes to make things better.
  • Experience in HR or a customer-facing/admin role would be useful, but the key is someone with the right attitude and a genuine interest in HR.
  • We’re looking for a proactive, reliable, and people-focused full‑time HR Assistant to join our warm and friendly team on a fixed‑term basis until 31 August 2026 with the likelihood of continuation depending on future needs and review. This is a full‑time 35‑hour per week role, with a working pattern of 7:45‑3:15.

And we’re even prouder of the people who make this school what it is, colleagues who care about their work, support each other and enjoy being part of a community with purpose.
