Title: HR, People Performance and Office Manager

ABOUT THEEWORD

At theEword, we’re creating a world where everyone can find their place. We help property companies increase leads, fill beds, generate footfall and sell homes, and we do this for clients across the globe, including the US, Europe and Australasia. Our marketing strategies reach humans on every continent.

We have an ambitious three-year plan that positions us as the leading digital strategy agency for real estate companies.

We have a diverse team across all levels of the business, and we’ve created an environment that allows anyone passionate to flourish.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We’re a fast-growing business with almost twenty years of experience; this is a critical role, as our people are at the centre of everything we do.

You’ll join and take over a solid platform you can build on. We have positive initiatives around engagement, including our regular “connection sessions” that you’ll be running. These confidential forums allow our team to provide feedback on areas that we can optimise, on top of our employee happiness surveys, one-to-ones, and Ask Us Anything sessions. It’s important that we stay connected to our team and learn from them.

You’ll also manage our team's social calendar, which includes themed lunches and seasonal get-togethers to celebrate life’s important moments like birthdays, work anniversaries, and new arrivals. Your role will be to build a roadmap for these events and ensure everything runs smoothly, helping to create a culture people feel proud to be part of.

You’ll also lead our recruitment processes from start to finish - from drafting job descriptions and coordinating interviews, to managing onboarding and making sure each new starter feels supported throughout their induction period.

We’re an open and supportive business, and as we grow, it’s critical that our values are front and centre. You’ll be responsible for this, and ensuring that everyone knows how we work, and engage with our clients.

Resource planning will also sit with you. Working closely with the leadership team, you’ll help allocate team members to client work based on skills, capacity and priorities, ensuring that we’re working smartly and delivering great results. You’ll also play a key role in keeping our HR policies current and compliant, staying ahead of changes in legislation and ensuring that our team and the business are protected and informed. You’ll be able to draw on an experienced HR consultant for guidance where needed, as well as using our HR and wellbeing platforms.

We also operate a growing and highly successful “Spark” programme that connects students to brands. You’ll be overseeing this process, with support from a team member, and taking this scheme to the next level.

MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that theEword’s HR policies and procedures are best in class.
  • Be the first point of contact for HR queries from staff and line managers.
  • Plan and facilitate regular internal feedback mechanisms (e.g., connection sessions, surveys).
  • Manage the recruitment process for new staff from start to finish.
  • Organise team travel for client meetings, events, and away days.
  • Oversee induction periods to ensure smooth integration of new starters.
  • Manage resource planning with senior leaders to allocate team members effectively.
  • Lead the planning and execution of all social and team-building events.
  • Create an office environment that allows our team to thrive.
  • Oversee our “Spark” programme that connects students to brands.
  • Report to the Senior Management Team on people performance insights.

KEY SKILLS

  • 2+ years of experience in an HR role, with Level 3 CIPD certification or above.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Confident using HR systems and digital tools.
  • A proactive, people-first mindset with genuine care for team wellbeing.
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, with a positive approach to change and dynamic challenges.
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects at once while staying focused and effective.
  • Experienced in leveraging data, insights, and factual evidence to guide decision-making and solve problems.
  • Proficient in Google/Excel spreadsheets, with strong skills in data analysis and clear presentation.
  • Experience with onboarding employees.
  • Experience of the end-to-end hiring process.
  • Knowledge of recruitment platforms and applicant tracking systems.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and best practice.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience in a creative, marketing or agency environment.
  • Coaching experience.
  • Ability to support workforce planning and resourcing in a fast-paced setting.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

We want to get the best out of our team; we have a sensible hybrid working and flexitime policy that allows you to be in an office when you want, but work remotely when it's more productive. We ask that each team member is the office at least 2 days a month, and when required for meetings or important happenings or events. As this role is focused on people, we’d ask you to aim to be in the office at least 6 days per month, prioritising one-to-ones, interviews and inductions.

We’re a supportive, growing team, and we’re big on training and self-improvement. We have an annual holiday purchase scheme, your birthday off and an extra day of annual leave for each year served.

For our clients, the big difference is our approach to strategy. We run discovery and strategy creation workshops, we create strategy playbooks that align with our client's goals then we adjust and optimise based on real-world data. Our campaigns perform better because we dig deep into our clients' businesses and their customers, so we understand the buying cycle and our client's customers' pain points.

We work with clients who value the way we work, not being afraid of experimenting with new ideas and tactics to get the best results, and who see us as an extension of their team.
