We are searching for an HR generalist with experience providing HR guidance and advice in a similar role, to join our People Team and provide support across a range of human resources activities.

As People Advisor, you will become part of our growing People team, joining a team of 5 HR generalists led by our UK People Director. You will provide first line HR advisory and administrative support to designatedbusiness units,working in partnership with managers and Senior People Business Partners to provide an effective and commercial people service.

You will work closely with one other People Advisor, collaborating to provide a full 1st line HR support services to the 1300+ people who make up our UK business. You will manage the full life cycle of a range of employee relations cases, escalating to Senior People Partners on more complex cases and supporting them throughout.

You will also be a key part of essential people team projects as we continue to develop our people function to maintain an efficient, comprehensive and successful service for all Gleeds employees.

Key responsibilities in your role as People Advisor will be:

  • Providing professional and expert advice to all employees and line managers on a wide range of people matters either via Teams, email or face to face
  • Working closely with an allocated stakeholder group to build relationships, ascertain their business requirements and work with them to achieve results
  • Supporting and advise managers on ER matters such as investigations, performance and/or conduct issues, disciplinaries and grievances, challenging decision making where appropriate
  • Acting as notetaker/support/advisor at formal meetings such as grievances, disciplinaries or flexible working requests
  • Supporting managers on absence management of employees including arranging occupational health assessments, agreeing reasonable adjustments and wellbeing plans and managing long and short-term absences
  • Supporting the Senior People Business Partner with organisational change activities such as TUPE, restructures and redundancies
  • Responsible for updating the ER case tracker accurately, flagging any areas of risk to the Senior People Business Partner
  • Preparing and distribute letters/meeting notes relating to various employee relations issues
  • Complying with employment legislation, statutory regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Reviewing and update people policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment legislation
  • Assist with HR project work when required.
  • Regularly contribute across the People team as a whole, recommending improvements to systems and procedures to improve efficiency

About The Candidate

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

As People Advisor you will require the following knowledge and experience:

  • Sound HR knowledge, with background and experience in a similar HR role
  • Excellent verbal, written, and numeracy skills
  • Excellent organisational skills including ability to manage time and prioritise effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain quality standards when working in a high pressured environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Able to work independently and on own initiative; with the ability to make sound and considered decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to manage a wide range of stakeholders
  • Able to work appropriately with confidential and sensitive information
  • An effective team player who contributes to the overall success of the People Team, supporting colleagues and teams when required.
  • Current knowledge, understanding and practical application of employment legislation and issues

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 3 or above is beneficial, though by no means essential.
