Job summary

CareTech is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to partner with managers across the business, delivering pragmatic, legally compliant HR guidance on employee relations. You will handle absence cases, investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and flexible working requests, while ensuring accurate documentation and sound advice.

Ideal candidates will be CIPD Level 5 or progressing toward it, with proven experience and excellent stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience advising on complex employee relations cases.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to produce clear, accurate HR documentation.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Confidence in coaching or delivering training to managers.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for managers seeking HR guidance on employee relations.
• Support sickness absence, investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters, performance, and flexible working requests.
• Guide suspension processes and prepare outcomes.
• Support formal meetings/hearings with accurate notes.
• Build constructive relationships with trade union representatives.
• Draft professional correspondence and case documentation.
• Monitor sickness absence and flag triggers for action.
• Support occupational health referrals and follow-up actions.
• Deliver training/coaching to managers to improve HR capability.
• Contribute to HR policy improvements and ad hoc projects.
