Job description

HR Advisor

Milton Keynes Central Office | Full Time | £37,329 per annum | Office based with some national travel required

Great workplaces don't happen by accident.

They are built by people who know how to balance empathy with pragmatism, build trusted relationships, navigate complexity and give managers the confidence to lead well.

At MacIntyre, our People Team is about far more than policies and processes. We champion the people who make our charity possible, helping managers create positive, inclusive workplaces where colleagues feel supported, valued and able to do their very best work.

Ultimately, the work we do helps ensure that children, young people and adults supported by MacIntyre can continue to live gloriously ordinary lives.

We're looking for an experienced HR Advisor who enjoys the variety of a busy generalist role and genuinely enjoys Employee Relations, seeing it as an opportunity to coach, influence and help managers make confident, fair and consistent people decisions.

If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, building trusted relationships, writing well-reasoned advice and helping managers get the very best from their teams, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

As the dedicated HR Advisor for one of our business areas, you'll become the trusted partner managers turn to for practical advice, coaching and support across the full employee lifecycle.

Every conversation, every piece of advice and every decision you help shape contributes to creating a positive employee experience while ensuring our people practices remain fair, consistent and aligned with our values. Alongside a varied Employee Relations caseload, you'll also have the opportunity to contribute to wider People Team projects that support MacIntyre's future growth and development.

Your role will include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for managers, providing proactive HR advice and coaching.
  • Managing a varied Employee Relations caseload including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, capability, performance, UK Right to Work, flexible working and family leave.
  • Coaching managers to build confidence, capability and great people management practices.
  • Promoting colleague wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion in everything you do.
  • Providing practical, legally compliant advice that balances employment law, policy and business needs.
  • Supporting organisational change, restructures and TUPE projects where required.
  • Developing HR policies, guidance and management resources.
  • Supporting and delivering HR training, People initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Using HR data and insight to identify trends, manage risk and improve people practices.
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues across multiple locations, with occasional travel to services.

Why MacIntyre?

Because people genuinely matter here.

You’ll join a friendly, supportive and knowledgeable People Team who enjoy working collaboratively, sharing ideas and continuously improving the way we support our colleagues.

This role offers the opportunity to broaden your HR expertise through involvement in organisational change, policy development, HR training and strategic People projects, while making a genuine difference to colleagues across the organisation.

We're committed to your professional development and will support you to continue building your HR career within a respected national charity.
