Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a People Advisor based at our Sainsbury's Northampton site. You will work alongside the site management team, reporting to the site People Manager, and provide a professional HR service covering all aspects of employee relations and the colleague lifecycle.

How will you contribute?
  • Take responsibility for providing advice and generalist HR support across the contract.
  • Develop effective ongoing relationships at all levels, establishing yourself as a credible, respected, and valued advisor, responding to queries directly, and influencing managers to follow best practices.
  • Own the delivery of key people processes such as absence, maternity, paternity, flexible working, probation, etc.
  • Support the management team in performance management of individuals and other employee relations situations (e.g., performance improvement plans, capability problems, disciplinary scenarios, grievances).
  • Produce accurate weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve team ways of working and support customers; identify problems and find solutions.
  • Assist in training and developing managers in people-related matters, ensuring processes are followed, and legislation is met.
  • Provide HR support for ad-hoc operational projects, e.g., new business wins, TUPE.
  • Support recruitment activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and selecting the most suitable candidates.
  • Support and improve absence management, including welfare meetings and OH referrals.
  • Support cyclical activities such as salary reviews, bonuses, performance, engagement, and succession planning.
What will you bring?
  • Proven HR experience.
  • Skilled in providing pragmatic, tailored HR advice.
  • Experience supporting managers with employee relations issues.
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Excellent organizational skills and initiative, with the ability to manage day-to-day HR processes effectively.
  • Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about developing and supporting colleagues to fulfill their potential.
  • Pragmatic, resilient, and a self-starter.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships quickly.
  • Previous experience with Oracle (desirable).
