Job summary

EUROPEAN SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS LIMITED in Cambridge seeks an SME-equivalent HPC engineer for a hybrid role, two days in the office. You will join our Infrastructure and Engineering teams, supporting technical users and contributing to high-visibility projects that improve service security, resilience, and technology adoption.

The role requires strong Red Hat, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), scripting, and security patching experience, with familiarity in Terraform, Ansible, and IBM Spectrum LSF,

Qualifications

• Experience: 4-8 years in HPC/Infrastructure roles.
• Degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong Red Hat skills, preferably RH certified.
• Understanding of public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Understanding of Agile, Automation, Jira, and Confluence.
• Solid Linux OS fundamentals, including problem-solving and performance tuning.
• Exposure to HPC workload management tools such as IBM Spectrum LSF.
• Strong scripting in Bash, Shell, Python, Perl, or similar.
• Experience with cloud technologies in AWS and/or Google Cloud.
• Good understanding of monitoring/alerting tools.
• Knowledge of remote display technologies like ETX.
• Security patching and vulnerability management in evolving environments.
• Ability to automate repetitive tasks.
• Experience in distributed teams and multi-geography engineering services.
• Experience providing technical support to an engineering user community.
• Nice to have: Terraform, Ansible, Artifactory, CI apps.
• Nice to have: HPC apps like Flex licenses and EDA tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide automated project solutions.
• Support daily ticket systems for common technical issues.
• Act as a core resource for high-visibility projects.

Salary: £117,000 - 117,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience: 4-8 years
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Strong Red Hat skills, preferably RH certification
• Understanding of operations in public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile, Automation, Jira, and Confluence
• Solid grasp of Linux OS fundamentals, including problem-solving and performance tuning
