HPC Engineer (Edge and Engineering Compute)
Bristol, Hybrid
Are you an HPC or systems engineer who wants to see the hardware you specify leave the server room and do something real?
Our client is one of Europe’s fastest-growing defence and national security engineering businesses who've grown from 30 to around 200 people. Their technology turns advances in sensing, AI and communications into capability for frontline teams, often in places where connectivity is limited. They’ve recently set up a Platform Engineering team to build reusable technology across the business, and they’re looking for someone to own the compute that everything runs on.
You’ll take ownership of the engineering hardware estate, from GPU servers and test infrastructure through to small, rugged edge nodes. A big early project is fitting out a new high-end test and evaluation facility. That means specifying the hardware, building reference systems and setting up the configurations that engineering teams will rely on.
Alongside that, you’ll be the person project teams come to when they need to know what to build on. You’ll take your HPC instincts for performance, standardisation and repeatable provisioning and apply them to systems that get deployed in the field.
