Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) seeks an experienced HPC & AI Application Performance Engineer to join our UK team. The role is onsite, with responsibilities spanning analysis, optimisation, and collaboration with customers and partners across EMEA/LATAM.

You will work on HPC/AI workloads, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and contribute to high-impact projects. Strong programming in C/C++/Fortran and Python, with GPU and parallel computing experience, is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Science/Engineering/Math or related field.
  • UK citizenship with ability to obtain required security clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical expertise for HPC and AI environments across EMEA/LATAM.
  • Analyse applications/workloads to identify performance improvements and scalability.
  • Investigate complex issues, acting as liaison between customer support and R&D.
  • Deliver technical workshops, training sessions and presentations.

Our team of highly skilled professionals supports customers across EMEA and LATAM, providing expertise in HPC and AI infrastructure, application performance, benchmarking, optimisation, and advanced technical support. We are looking for an experienced HPC & AI Application Performance Engineer to join our distributed team and help customers maximise the performance, scalability, and impact of their HPC and AI environments.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide advanced technical expertise and support to major HPE HPC and AI customer environments across EMEA and LATAM.
  • Work both on-site with UK customers and remotely with organisations across the wider region.
  • Analyse customer applications and workloads to identify opportunities for performance improvement, optimisation, and scalability.
  • Investigate complex software and infrastructure issues, acting as a trusted technical link between customer support teams and HPE R&D.
  • Support strategic business opportunities by providing technical expertise for large-scale HPC and AI bids and tenders.
  • Deliver technical workshops, training sessions, and presentations for customers and colleagues.
  • Share knowledge, best practices, and innovative ideas across the team and wider HPC and AI community.
  • Contribute to the development of tools, methodologies, and research initiatives that improve customer productivity and service delivery.
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • UK citizenship with the ability to obtain required security clearances for specific UK customer environments.
  • Strong understanding of HPC and AI architectures, software environments, and performance analysis techniques.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and working collaboratively with engineering and R&D teams.
  • Programming experience in C, C++, or Fortran, alongside strong Python skills.
  • Experience with GPU programming technologies such as CUDA, OpenACC, or OpenMP Offload.
  • Knowledge of parallel programming frameworks including MPI and OpenMP.
  • Familiarity with build systems, scripting, and batch processing environments.
  • Experience using performance profiling and optimisation tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
Desirable Experience
  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant scientific, engineering, or technical discipline.
  • Experience in application domains such as: Weather and climate modelling Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Data Science Knowledge of container technologies, system software, and monitoring solutions.
