Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd is seeking a proactive Housing Triage Officer to join our Housing Services team. You will be the first point of contact for customers with housing and homelessness concerns, delivering timely advice, support and referrals to appropriate services.

You will assess housing needs, triage approaches, provide housing options guidance, and work with specialist teams to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing, homelessness, customer service, or local authority environment.
• Knowledge of housing legislation and welfare benefits advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent assessment and decision-making skills.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Housing-related qualification desirable or willingness to obtain one.
• Understanding safeguarding, equality, diversity and confidentiality principles.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for customers seeking housing assistance (phone, email, online, in person).
• Conduct initial assessments and triage homelessness approaches per housing legislation and council policies.
• Provide housing options advice, homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation and support services referrals.
• Gather and verify information to determine priority cases and next steps.
• Refer customers to specialist housing, homelessness prevention, tenancy sustainment and support services.
• Maintain accurate case records using housing management systems.
• Liaise with internal departments, partner agencies, landlords and support organisations.
• Support homelessness prevention through early intervention and effective case management.
• Ensure enquiries comply with legislation, GDPR, and departmental procedures.
• Contribute to service improvements and cross-team collaboration.
