Job summary

Target Housing in the United Kingdom seeks a dedicated support worker to assist residents moving in and out of accommodation, build trusting relationships, and develop tailored support plans.

You will act as a keyworker, guide budgeting, welfare benefits, tenancy rights, risk assessments, and liaise with Probation and external partners to promote wellbeing and community engagement.

Job description

• Support residents as they move into and out of Target Housing accommodation
• Build trusting relationships and develop tailored support plans based on individual needs and goals
• Act as a keyworker, offering guidance, motivation, and practical support
• Help residents maximise income, manage budgets, and navigate the benefits system
• Promote understanding of tenancy rights and responsibilities
• Conduct regular risk assessments and adapt support as needs evolve
• Encourage progress toward personal goals and celebrate achievements
• Support rent management and assist with benefit claims
• Monitor property condition, utilities usage, and occupancy
• Identify and address tenancy-related concerns
• Advocate for residents and liaise with external agencies
• Work closely with Probation and community partners to provide holistic support
• Support residents in resolving conflict constructively
• Contribute to activities, workshops, and community engagement
• Maintain accurate, confidential records
• Attend joint visits and multi-agency meetings as required
• Participate in training, team meetings, and regular supervision
• Adhere to organisational policies, including Equality, Confidentiality, and Health & Safety
• Support the wider aims and objectives of Target Housing

Requirements

• Experience or understanding of working with vulnerable individuals
• Knowledge of supported housing and tenancy-related support
• Understanding of the welfare benefits system
• Experience with risk assessments and support planning
• Awareness of the UK criminal justice system
• Full UK driving licence
• Access to your own vehicle
• Satisfactory employment references
• Successful Enhanced DBS check
