Housing Support Worker – Reading

Job type: Full Time, permanent

Hours: Working hours are 8 hours per day, shift patterns and flexibility will be discussed during the interview. The provision of the contract is between 08:00 and 22:00.

Location: Reading

Additional requirements: An enhanced DBS check will be required. Candidates must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Nacro is a national Social Justice Charity with over 50 years' experience in changing lives and building stronger communities. We deliver the Community Accommodation Support service (CAS), a national service across England and Wales, supporting courts, defendants, and individuals in custody or on licence.

The team provides flexible, holistic support to residents with diverse needs, aiming to help them find and maintain stable housing. You will manage a caseload of residents and properties within your area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support clients to comply with HDC/Bail conditions.
  • Create realistic, person-centred Support Plans, including access to housing services for move-on.
  • Ensure Support Plans and Risk Assessments are tailored and inclusive.
  • Provide weekly support sessions to help residents achieve their goals.
  • Assist residents with Housing Benefit applications.
  • Manage properties to meet Decent Homes Standard, report repairs, and maintain furnishings.
  • Undertake basic cleaning tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver person-centred Support and Safety Plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for residents.
  • Support Housing Benefit applications.
  • Refer residents to specialist agencies as needed.
  • Coordinate with partner agencies like Probation, Courts, and Police.
  • Ensure properties are well-maintained and equipped.
  • Empower residents to achieve their outcomes.
  • Develop move-on plans with residents early on.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Ability to develop person-centred support and move-on plans.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults with complex needs.
  • Flexibility to travel within your area and cover other patches.
  • Familiarity with computer packages.
