About the Service

Housing Standards is St Helens Borough Council's private sector housing enforcement service, committed to ensuring that rented homes are safe, healthy and well managed. We work closely with landlords, tenants and managing agents to improve housing conditions, tackle poor standards and enforce housing legislation where necessary. A key priority for the service is delivering the Council's responsibilities under the Renters' Rights Act 2025, helping to protect tenants, support responsible landlords and raise standards across the private rented sector.

Roles That Matter

This post is subject to Basic Disclosure. Employees can regularly work away from Council workspaces (including home or other locations), alongside required office-based working. The balance between remote and office-based working is determined at service level based on operational need, however, there has been a minimum specification that staff will work at least 2 days from an office-based location.
