Job summary

West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated Homelessness Prevention & Relief Officer to join our Housing Service. You will conduct assessments, provide housing advice, and implement prevention measures to help people retain their accommodation.

Work with external agencies to secure housing, maintain accurate case records, and support clients through relief processes. This public facing role requires confidence in English under Immigration Act 2016 Part 7.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of homelessness legislation including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Experience in providing housing advice and support to individuals facing homelessness.
• Strong assessment and intervention skills to identify and apply prevention measures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage clients and stakeholders.
• Organisational skills to manage a diverse caseload effectively.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of housing needs and provide appropriate advice and assistance.
• Implement homelessness prevention measures to help individuals stay in their current accommodation.
• Collaborate with external agencies to secure suitable housing options.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and maintain accurate case records.
• Provide support and guidance throughout the homelessness relief process; role is public facing per Immigration Act 2016 Part 7.
